MAN
engines stand for maximum efficiency. By using top-flight technology MAN
achieves minimum fuel consumption rates, excellent power densities and maximum
reliability, and all that with a long service life.
With the
key technologies – common-rail injection, Exhaust-Gas Recirculation (EGR),
2-stage supercharging, Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and optional soot
particle filters (DPF/CRT) – MAN ensures that future exhaust-gas regulations
will be met and running costs kept down at the same time.
MAN components embody innovative technology and outstanding quality that always translate into high economy. The components program extends from first-rate front and rear axles through transfer cases to complete system solutions such as tandem axle units.
The MAN engine is designed to run not only on diesel fuel but also on natural gas and biogas. This engine is available in turbocharged versions delivering up to 580 kW and as an economical aspirated version delivering 270 kW. A separate cylinder head, piston and cylinder liner have been developed for operation with gas. The remaining components are identical with those of the diesel-powered engine. By comparison, the V-12 variants of the diesel engines deliver between 700 and 1,117 kW.
